Join Janet R. Kirchheimer, gold-star licensed New York City Tour Guide, and longtime member of Congregation Shearith Israel, The Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in the City of New York, for a virtual tour of the first Jewish community and synagogue in North America, founded in 1654. Learn about the congregation from its beginnings to the present day, its unique traditions and music, as well as famous members, and Jewish pirates.

JANET R. KIRCHHEIMER IS THE AUTHOR OF HOW TO SPOT ONE OF US, POEMS ABOUT HER FAMILY AND THE SHOAH. HER FORTHCOMING BOOK, CO-AUTHORED WITH JACLYN PIUDIK, SEDUCTION: OUT OF EDEN WILL BE PUBLISHED IN 2022. SHE IS CURRENTLY PRODUCING, AFTER, A DOCUMENTARY FOLLOWING CONTEMPORARY POETS AS THEY PERFORM AND EXAMINES THE ROLE OF ART IN RESPONDING TO THE HOLOCAUST.
