A virtual presentation by Kiyomi Kowalski and April Powers

ABOUT THE EVENT:

The Jewbian Princess team led by Kiyomi Kowalski and April Powers, two Black, Jewish women, will create a brave space for a thoughtful dialogue about what it takes to create a welcoming community for Jews of all races and ethnicities. Jewbian Princess provides a space where people have an opportunity to practice their skills as upstanders and disruptors in a situation where they are witnessing and/or experiencing prejudice. Far from a lecture, the Jewbian Princess method requires active participation and dialogue among participants. Be prepared with your camera on, ready to contribute to a dynamic discussion with fellow Jews about how each of us can help create a more inclusive environment in synagogues, Jewish organizations, and communities.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Kiyomi Kowalski is a mom, a Marine Corps veteran, an inclusion educator, and a social justice advocate. She produces and facilitates panels, workshops, and discussions on race and racism, antisemitism, among many other social justice issues. Kiyomi’s work is intently focused on creating brave spaces for productive dialogue and training people to use Non-Violent Communication skills for tough conversations.

April Powers is a global inclusion strategist, interculturalist trainer, and keynote speaker.
